Realising Your Vision
Guiding and advising SLT and wider staff teams
SOuL can support you in focusing on the development of learning beyond the classroom as a core component of teaching and learning, across the whole curriculum. Generally, this would involve one or more discursive and planning sessions facilitated by an experience member of our team. Note that this can happen face to face at your school remotely via video call or a combination of the two. The primary aim is to create a clear, costed 3–5-year plan that would focus on:
Where you are now and your vision for the future of learning beyond the classroom at your school (curricular, co and extra-curricular, pastoral, health and well-being, SEN provision).
The people plan – an audit of skills and experience across your staff team and how this would need to be enhanced (through CPD and recruitment).
The resources plan – what additional written and physical resources would be required immediately and, in the future, to support great practice (and how all staff can acquire, store and access them).
The site plan – a ‘fresh eyes’ look at the entire school site to establish which areas can be used currently (with little or no cost involved) and what infrastructure could and should be installed over time (with additional funding).
The financial plan – a detailed look all funding options that might exist, however small (Capex, fundraising by the school community, grant applications, benefactors, local businesses, in kind contributions).
First/next steps, actions, owners and timescales.
We would be on hand every step of the way. Facilitating conversations, capturing outcomes and creating detailed notes and summaries. We would also be able to link you to our extensive client network of schools in a similar situation or those who have been through the process and are further established with their planning and provision.
Our guidance and support .
This support will deliver meaningful culture change at your school so that:
Outdoor Learning underpins the approach of all staff at your school and takes place on a routine and regular basis.
Staff feel confident and competent in their delivery and have the permission of SLT to be creative and innovative in their teaching approach.
Children are engaged in practical, experiential and multi-sensory ‘learning by doing’ in the outdoor environment, which innately develops physical literacy, language acquisition, independence, social skills and curiosity.
